Authentic Malay Satay Peanut Sauce

An epic recipe of making heavenly Malay Peanut Sauce that is so hard to resist



Methods

Blend all paste ingredients well in a food processor. Heat oil in a pot on low heat and sauté the paste until fragrant.

Add peanut and coconut milk and cook on low heat for about 10 minutes. Then add brown sugar or honey and salt and leave it to cook on low heat for another 35 minutes, add some water if necessary.

Finally, when it is almost done add some tamarind juice or lime/lemon juice. Stir it well and serve it with beef satay or chicken satay or any of your favourite other dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbs oil
  • 1 cup ground peanuts
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 4 tbs Brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp salt

  • Paste ingredients:
  • 3 shallots or 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tender lemongrass (cut into paper thin slices)
  • 4 dried chilies (soaked in warm water, seeded and coarsely chopped) or 2 red finger hot peppers (seeded and coarsely chopped
  • 2 tbs. lime/lemon juice or tamarind juice
